Ongoing Projects:
Bausher Sewerage Collection Network and
Construction of Sewage Treatment Plant at Al Ansab
This project started in April 2003 with the design
work for the sewerage network and treatment plant.
It covers all of Bausher area and consists of
building a new sewerage treatment plant at Al-Ansab,
and a sewerage collection network starting at
Hamryah Roundabout and all the way to Azaibah.
Due to the size of this project, it is divided into
two contracts; one for the STP and the other one for
the sewerage collection network, pumping stations,
raising mains and irrigation network. The design &
supervision consultant for both the contracts are
M/s. Khatib and Alami with Metcalf & Eddy.
Sewerage Network:
The construction contract of sewerage network
collection system in Bausher is awarded to M/s. Sino
Hydro Corporation, China for RO. 57.8 million after
a very thorough tendering process. The Construction
of trail pits has been completed in Azaibah area and
is in progress in Ghubrah, Al Khuwair, Qurum, Ilam
and Ghubrah area. Construction of permanent network
started in Qurum and Azaibah / Ghubrah south area.
The new Sewerage Network is approximately 300km long
and will connect 17000-18000 houses / buildings on
project completion. The scope covers building of the
sewerage collection network, including house
connections, one small pumping station in Al-Qurum,
one main pumping station in Azaibah North, manhole
lift station in different areas in Al-Qurum, rising
mains from Azaibah PS to Al-Ansab STP and Treated
Effluent Network for irrigation purposes in the
area. It also includes all electrical works at the
pumping stations and control & automations work.
Al-Ansab STP:
This part involves building a new sewerage treatment
plant adjacent to the existing STP. The STP is
designed to handle 53,000 m3/day of sewerage.
Due to the size of this plant and the fact that it
will be the monitoring center, Distributed Control
System (DCS) and Supervisory control and Data
Acquisition system (SCADA) will be installed to
control & monitor all the remote stations /
facilities; build operation center which covers
offices, warehouse & staff accommodation with all
related facilities which will enable the operator to
monitor and supervise the entire process.
Al-Ansab plant is based on using the Membrane
Bioreactor (MBR) Technology which is considered as
one of the leading technologies in the Industry.
Once commissioned, Al-Ansab plant will be the
largest of its kind worldwide using the MBR
technology. The plant capacity is 53,000 m3/day.
The Contractor, M/s. Galfar Engineering &
Contracting Co. LLC has started the construction
activities.
Darsait STP Upgrade:
The up-grading works of Darsait STP is completed on
31st March 2005. This major
rehabilitation project was carried out to replace
the ageing equipments with more efficient ones and
to rehabilitate the main process structures.
The upgraded plant capacity is 21,000 m3/day
compared to 14,000 m3/day earlier.
M/s. Khatib & Alami with Metcalf & Eddy and Bahwan
Contracting Company are the Design & Supervision
Consultants and Construction Contractor for this
project respectively.
Rehabilitation of Existing STP’s:
This project is for the Rehabilitation of STP’s in
Al Khod, Al Ansab, Shattie Al-Qurum & Ma’abailah due
to the deteriorating conditions of these Plants.
The design phase of project started in the beginning
of April 2004 and completed by December 2004, and
the Construction works will begin in May 2005 and
anticipated completion is planned by February 2006.
The Construction bids are currently under
evaluation. M/s. Energoprojekt Entel LLC is the
Design & Supervision Consultant for the above
project.
A’seeb Project:
A’seeb Wastewater Project is intended to provide the
residents of A’seeb with a complete new Wastewater
Network (gravity sewers, pumping stations and rising
mains) that will convey the collected wastewater to
new wastewater treatment plant/plants where the
wastewater will be treated to a degree that will
make it safe for further disposal/utilization. A
network of irrigation pipelines will also be
provided in A’seeb area to distribute the treated
wastewater to be utilized for irrigation purposes.
All the existing properties within the catchment
boundaries will be connected to the new sewer
network and the existing septic tanks will be
decommissioned.
Parsons International and Company LLC has been
appointed as the Design and Supervision Consultant
for the project.
Quriyat
Project:
The
Walayat of Qyrayat is featured with its fascinating
nature. The beautiful valleys and the amazing
beaches are the perfect destination for the
tourists. Almost one thousand people inhabit the
area.
Within
the context of its concern to deliver wastewater
services to all of the residents of Qurayat, Oman
Wastewater Service Co. has set up a survey for the
wastewater project while taking into consideration
the population and housing growth.
At the
same time, a tender was floated to find appropriate
solution for Qurayat until the time of the project
implementation according to the Master plan of the
Muscat wastewater project. The project currently is
in the technical stage and it is scheduled for
completion by the second quarter of 2006.
