The Governate of Muscat is one of the most important
areas in the Sultanate. Being the capital of the
Sultanate, it is home to all the Ministries and
Government authorities. In addition, most of the
private sector companies and establishments are also
located in Muscat.
The Muscat Government consists of six Wilayats:
Muscat, Mutrah, Bousher, Al Seeb, Alaamirat and
Qurayat.
According to the 2003 census, the population of
Muscat is around 630,000 and is expected to reach 1
million by 2025.
Flanked by mountains on one side and the sea on
the other, Muscat’s natural beauty is ornamented by
a number of famous forts and parks. Tourists from
all over the world visit the beautiful city of
Muscat. Development projects are underway all over
the Sultanate to accommodate the ever-increasing
population and make Muscat an even more popular
tourist destination.
