PREQUALIFICATION NOTICE

Haya Water is a Government of the Sultanate of Oman owned entity, and is empowered to build and operate the Muscat Wastewater Project covering an area of 3,900 km².  The company is currently executing a very large infrastructure project to build wastewater collection, treatment and reuse system in the Muscat Governorate.

Haya Water intends to prequalify contractors and/or firms for the project:

REHABILITATION AND UPGRADING OF THE EXISTING SEWERAGE NETWORK IN RUWI SUB-CATCHMENT

It is expected that invitations for bid will be made in November 2009.

PRE-QUALIFICATION FOR

REHABILITATION AND UPGRADING OF THE EXISTING SEWERAGE NETWORK IN

RUWI SUB-CATCHMENT

SYNOPSIS OF THE SCOPE OF WORK

1.1        INTRODUCTION

1.1.1     As part of Muscat Wastewater Scheme Project, Haya Water (Oman Wastewater Services Company S.A.O.C.) is undertaking major wastewater projects across the whole Muscat area to construct new wastewater systems. Also, there are some scattered existing wastewater systems, as in Ruwi sub-catchment, which are planned to be rehabilitated as part of Muscat Wastewater Scheme Project.

1.1.2     The project scope of work is rehabilitation and upgrading of the existing sewerage collection system in the Ruwi sub-catchment.

1.2        PURPOSE OF THE PRE-QUALIFICATION

1.2.1     Haya Water intends to short-list suitably qualified Contractors with necessary experience and capabilities in the rehabilitation of the existing sewerage networks as well as the construction of new sections of pipelines and some House connections. 

1.3        RESTRICTION ON APPLICANTS

1.3.1     Applicants with extensive regional and / or international experience in the Construction of Major Infrastructure Works (especially construction and rehabilitation of the sewerage networks) should only apply. Applicants without such experience are not encouraged to apply and their submission will be ignored.

1.4        DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

1.4.1     Project area includes Ruwi sub-catchment. Ruwi area is part of Greater Mutrah Wilayat and it is considered as one of the main trade and business centers in Muscat Governorate. Existing sewerage network was constructed in 1978 and extended once in 1986.

1.4.2     Existing sewerage network in Ruwi is connected to Darsait STP. Pipes materials are uPVC and AC, diameters from 100 to 700 mm.

1.4.3     The objective of the project is to rehabilitate and upgrade existing Ruwi sewerage network to be able to service Ruwi area up to the end of the design project period (2035).

1.4.4     New sewerage system consists of two main sub-systems, gravity network and sewer main trunk. The main trunk will convey the wastewater collected from Wadi Kabir sub-catchment and the wastewater collected from Ruwi sub-catchment up to Darsait STP.

1.4.5     During construction phase the Contractor shall ascertain all local conditions relevant to the Works and shall be completely responsible for the detailed design of house and property connections, renovation works, rehabilitation works, temporary works, traffic management, etc. finalization of alignments and revisions to tender details, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of the complete sewerage system and sub-systems as outlined hereinafter.

1.4.6    Detailed scope of work is provided in Part 2 of this document. Ruwi sub-catchment is shown on Figure 1.
